A glimmer of the truth is holy, even when it is poured out in the midst of confusion or falsehood. It is even more precious for having been revealed in a place like that.
This doesn’t mean we should freely look into lies in order to see if unique expressions of truth can be found there. The subtle and subliminal slip between ideas, between thoughts and the form they are known in, and between the foundations given beneath them, makes that dangerous; the gleaning is an effort. If you walk from darkness into light, it is better to look forward into the bright world before you than it is to keep looking back to the candles in the dark room you came out of. Even so, those candles from the past, from the path of our journey to light, are precious, holy, and pure in themselves, no matter the context they were imagined in.
