The Hebrew word “HaMakom,” meaning “the place,” is used as a name for God. Rather than thinking He is in the world, really, the world is in Him. How can we point to His ‘place’? But He is our beginning and our destination.
“His glory fills the universe: his ministering angels ask one another, Where is the place of his glory? Those over against them say, Blessed—Blessed be the glory of the Lord from his place. From his place may he turn in mercy and be gracious unto a people who, evening and morning, twice every day, proclaim with constancy the unity of his name, saying in love, Hear—Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is One.
